You know what
are paraphilias?
The word parafilia is of Greek origin, where para means “side by side” and filia “love”. In this way, we can say that it is a form of love parallel to common calls, or rather, a different and often strange way of feeling pleasure. Paraphilias are also known as sexual perversions. The profile of the person who suffers from this disorder, perversion, is characterized by the fact that he feels pleasure only for some fragment of the body or an object that represents him, and only manages to live his sexuality in this way. The pervert suffers with his own desires, he cannot hire them or have sex without being through his wits. More than that, he is fully aware that his practice is not always beneficial or accepted, and is distressed by it. Therefore, he can and should resort to psychological treatment. In a simple analogy the sexologist Cláudio Picazio explains: “it is as if the individual feels thirsty, in this case drinking water (exercising his perversion) is a way of appeasing this feeling. But it cannot be said that he is compulsive or compelled to perform this act ”. In paraphilias, the sexual act itself loses its importance for both the object and the fantasy. It is worth saying that, at one time or another, living a sexual fantasy with themes related to perversion does not mean that the individual is a pervert. Read further on the difference between paraphilias and sexual fantasies. With the changing times, some paraphilias have become more accepted, such as coprolalia (people who need obscene words to get excited), many consider it as a sexual stimulus and not a perversion. Even in the case of voyeurism, some people allow themselves to be observed and feel pleasure, without this being seen as perversion. “The important thing, in these cases, is to see these paraphilias as variants of sexuality, as innovations, complements, but as long as the individuals involved remain physically and psychologically healthy”, defends Picazio. Paraffilia can be classified into different modalities, due to the different variations and stages. They may present mild, moderate and severe degrees. And the treatment depends on the evaluation of these factors by a psychologist or psychiatrist, specializing in sexuality, to arrive at the deeper causes of this deviation. Paraffilias are really unacceptable when they involve another person and happen without your consent. For example, even if at first it seems heavy to talk about sadomasochism (people who like to be beaten, trampled, judged) it is necessary to take into account that, for this to happen, the other must agree, give their consent. If both agree, that's fine. In our view, much more serious, harmful and invasive is a person being touched or tossed on a crowded bus (froteurismo), when he did not allow this attitude, being simply abused without his permission. Likewise, facing a naked exhibit, without allowing such an attitude, is invasive. Of all forms of paraphilia, the most serious case (for causing suffering and psychological complications to the absurd) is pedophilia, since the other, being a child, has no ability to discern and choose to practice sex. More than a detour, it is a crime. In this case, paraphilia does not serve as a mitigation or justification for this aggressor, who must be punished severely.
